39M Californians: You have ONE JOB today (TPP, +WA OR CO ND MO FL VA MD DE NH...)

We only have two senators representing our gigantic state, and one of them voted for fast-track (Trade Promotion Authority) for the Trans-Pacific Partnership last time around. Now the House of Representatives passed an even worse fast-track, one without any compensation for those who will lose jobs* due to the TPP, and it's headed to the Senate Tuesday/Wednesday for a vote.

Call Senator Feinstein's office and tell her to vote against TPA. Do it today. Do it now. It only takes two minutes. You'll feel good about getting in your say and exercising your prerogatives as a participant in (what is supposed to be) our democracy.

Senator Diane Feinstein of California (202) 224-3841 The TPP is a giant give-away of our sovereignty to international corporations. In other words, it takes political power away from you and me and gifts it to artificial profit-making machines, including those based overseas. TPP/TPA does an end-run around the Constitution, which specifically requires that treaties be ratified with a ⅔ vote of the Senate—with senators' advice and consent—and for good reason, given that treaties become the supreme law of the land, superior to regular law.

Why this bypassing of democratic process to set up an even more undemocratic regime? Because the "partnership's" proponents know it's bad for us. The TPP is being written in secret, by corporate hacks for corporate hacks. And then there are other stated motives, notably the supposed attempt to maintain global American military and economic dominance by getting the jump on China's expansionist moves. The Republicans are teaming up with President Obama against the Democrats in Congress and against the needs and interests of Americans.

So call! If you can't get through, send an email. Extra credit: Call Senator Boxer and encourage her to re-up her vote against the TPP/TPA.

And everyone in other states, especially those listed in the title with Democratic senators who voted for TPA last time around: Please call as well! We stand with you, in solidarity.
